Supporting university innovation
Getting your investor pitch right
We've recently been engaging with a number of university innovation hubs and TTOs, to support the management teams of their start-ups and spin-outs as they seek external funding for their growth and development.

One of the key issues for a young and rapidly-developing deeptech, clean energy or biotech company is the need to raise funding and persuade external investors – at whatever stage of its development, but in particular at Series A and beyond – to back it. Inevitably, its success will depend in part on how well the company and its management present their investment case both verbally/in-person/online and in written materials and information memoranda.
We are experienced in helping to clearly define a company’s investment story and do so consistently across different platforms. In addition to coaching on delivery and advising on the structuring of investor, employee or regulatory presentations, we can also help produce written material, PPMs and prospectuses.
These skills are applicable and useful to young spin-outs from universities, innovation hubs and TTOs as they approach the investor domain, seeking to raise funding for their development - especially at a time when we're facing significant future health, tech and clean energy challenges.
For a young and relatively unknown company, positioning the management team as effective, imaginative and visionary leaders with the requisite skill-set to fully exploit their IP and deliver for shareholders is fundamental. Our aim is to coach the team – sensitively and empathetically – to achieve this through authentic, well-planned and persuasive storytelling.
